In this updated version of the film, a snudoo can be seen moving in the background outside the Rebels’ Echo Base on Hoth. The snudoo was brought to life as a computer-generated addition for the 1997 Special Edition of The Empire Strikes Back. The creative team at Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) developed the creature using digital technology that was not available during the original 1980 production. The intention was to add more visual depth and a sense of a living world to the Hoth sequences.
